JOBS CREATED AS ACUMEN GROUP EXPANDS

The Acumen Group in Aberdeen has created more than 26 jobs by expanding and refurbishing its Riverside Drive premises.

Recruitment opportunities are expected to increase further by 10% over the next quarter due to the group's expansion and a significant increase in turnover.

The Acumen Group, a leading financial and business services company, consists of Acumen Financial Planning, Acumen Accountants and Advisors, Acumen IT Consultancy and Freelance Euro Contracting. As well as the office in Aberdeen, Acumen also has an office in Peterhead with satellites in Edinburgh and Norwich.

At the end of 2006, The Acumen Group's financial planning team had £80million of clients' funds under advice. The growth in the team means it now has nine financial planners, a specialist mortgage consultant and 10 support staff. The number of financial planners operating in the central belt is also set to increase as the company moves closer to securing premises in Edinburgh.

Freelance Euro has opened offices in Manchester and is actively seeking larger premises. Freelance Euro, which was recently named as one of Scotland's top 250 businesses, has enjoyed rapid expansion since being set up in the mid 1990s to assist freelance professionals manage the financial operation of their companies. Freelance Euro, which has seen its customer base surge to in excess of 1,400 Freelance professionals worldwide, currently has 40 employees. This number of staff is set to rise steadily by the end of the year.

Managing director of the Acumen Group, Sandy Robertson, said: "We are delighted at the growth of the company in Scotland and south of the border. We have seen a significant increase in turnover and are now actively pursuing opportunities in expanding in to new areas and developing excellent recruitment opportunities as a result."

The Acumen Group has also recently announced two accountancy appointments. Chartered accountant, Steven McKenzie, has joined as an associate. He will mainly be based in the Edinburgh office.

Andrew Bell joins the Acumen Group at its Aberdeen office as the assistant tax manager, bringing with him more than 15 years of experience in the taxation and finance areas.
